Shift At Midnight is a co-op petrol-station detective horror game for up to 3 players: run the station, check customers for signs they are not human, and survive if a threat escapes. This is an independent fan reference summarising only what official Steam material confirms.
This is an independent fan reference. It is not an official wiki and is not affiliated with Bun Muen, Kwalee, Valve, Xbox, or Microsoft.
What the sources confirm
- Developer: Bun Muen (per Steam store)
- Publisher: Kwalee (per Steam store)
- Players: solo or online co-op for up to three players
- Steam platform listing: Windows
- Premise: run a petrol station, inspect customers for signs that they are not human, and survive the consequences of a missed threat
These facts come from the official Steam store page.
Core loop
Each randomly generated shift mixes routine station work with investigation. Players check details such as customer IDs, computer records, and behaviour. If a dangerous customer escapes, the shift moves into survival: barricade entrances, place traps, and hide.
Modes and social play
The Steam store describes a Story Mode with 13 randomly generated shifts, online co-op, proximity chat, and character customisation. A 21 July 2026 official announcement described an Endless Mode beta after Story Mode. The current store text separately describes a free major Endless Mode update planned for Q4 2026. Those are dated plans, not a promise that every described feature is already available.
Platforms and cross-play
A 10 July 2026 official announcement announced launch plans for Steam, Xbox, and Xbox PC Game Pass. It said Xbox and Xbox PC Game Pass players can play together, whilst Steam players match only with other Steam players. Check the relevant storefront for current availability.
